For months the PPA Tour has taunted us with their new website, pickleball.com. They launched the website today, but alas, it was just a tease.
The website says that their goal is to bring everything pickleball related to one place. This will include the ppatour.com, pickleballcentral.com, and most importantly pickleballtournaments.com. The new website also will be implementing a "next generation" tournament platform, individual profile pages, ways to connect with your pickle friends, league play & ladder offerings, court scheduling, court finder, ratings, gaming and more.
"The incredible growth and interest in pickleball will drive us to keep investing in premier resources for players, clubs, media, and content providers," said investor Tom Dundon
The website will combine with other leading companies in the pickleball space; Pickleball Tournaments, Pickleball Brackets (both tournament softwares), Top Court an online tennis and pickleball instruction database and Pickleball Central, the largest pickleball E-commerce website in the world.
The PPA plans on offering all of these amenities in one place starting in January 2023. Will they be able to provide all of these leisures with the quality they are boasting about in just three short months? Probably not. Rome wasn't built in a day. Although we are positive that they will make some major improvements, this will not be without bumps in the road for users. To provide all of these conveniences they are tackling it will take time to perfect.
What does this mean for companies like PicklePlay and DUPR who are providing some of these same features on their apps & websites who have been in this space for a couple of years now?
Will the PPA be able to put out the best software in all of these niches to provide the best user experience? Will the other companies survive?
