The sport of pickleball is exploding in Sydney, with the Northern Beaches Pickleball Association now boasting over 1,600 members—the largest club in Australia.

The region is adding around 100 new players each month, solidifying its status as a national pickleball hub. To accommodate the demand, new courts are being built at Pittwater RSL and the former Queenwood Tennis Centre, offering more opportunities for players of all ages.
Rick Nelmes, the association’s president, hopes to attract younger players to balance the club’s current average age of 58. With pickleball’s growth showing no signs of slowing down, Sydney is proving that the sport is here to stay.
